Circa 1910. The Kalispel live in Northeastern Washington, on the Columbia River. In 1910, the tribe numbered a little more than one hundred. This handsome fellow was a member of the lower Ped d-Orielles ( Ear Pendants) originally from the British Columbia. I am showing the drips on this painting to represent not only tears but unifying and dissolving the image at the same time.
